If i dont eat for 24hours prior to an operation what effect will this have on my blood pressure and pulse?

i am due to have surgical extraction of some teeth but they will not do it if i have too higher blood pressure... by not eating for 24hrs will this mean my blood pressure is reduced if not are there any other short term fixes that will reduce my blood pressure sufficiently to get it done?
